GLOSSARY OF TERMS AND CONCEPTS for Data Gathering
The following list provides definitions for frequently used concepts in the document and for the duration of the Data Gathering Campaigns.
Concept | Description |
| Entities that represent physical or technical concepts found in the field. |
Property | Geographical entity defined by the lowest address structure level (i.e. street or Shabia) and building number or description. It represents a group of service points in the same location. |
Service Point | It represents the service supplied at specific property. |
Meter Chamber | It identifies the location where meters and/or meter boxes are placed. This entity is defined by property and a vertical geographical key (i.e. floor) and the reading sequence within the given property since a property can have more than one meter chamber. |
Meter / Submeter | Device installed for usage (or consumption) measurement. |
| A lot is the group of properties and/or services that are expected can be gathered by a team of surveyors in one day. A lot for example, can be a fraction of an actual itinerary |
Property Access | Additional information that could assist in locating the property. Example: second building to the right of AlMahary supermarket. |
Hand Held Unit (HHU) | The mobile electronic device that will be used by surveyor to gather data in the field. HHU will be equipped with GPS card to gather the GPS Coordinate of each property visited. |
GPS Coordinates | Longitude and Latitude position to be taken for each property using a Global Positioning System (GPS) device. |
| The physical location of building/room where the activities of upload/download information from HHUs are done. DGMS will be installed in a computer in DGC to manage field campaign activities. It is planned to have one DGC per sub-department. |
Data Gathering | The Data Gathering Mobile Application which is loaded into the Surveyors' Handheld devices. |
Data Gathering Management System (DGMS) | The Data Gathering Management System which is used to organize the itineraries, work planning, extraction of reports, personnel, HHU and supporting information maintenance. It is a stand alone application that is installed in DGC. |
